The Museum
Spanning 1,500 square meters, the Video Game Museum of CADPA holds a collection of over 18,000 physical items, including game consoles, computers, software, books, and periodicals. Alongside approximately 1,100 artifacts in the permanent exhibition, the museum also features themed exhibitions and interactive activities to highlight the unique contributions of gaming to technological innovation, cultural heritage, education, and global exchange.
Supported by the Xuhui District Government and guided by the China Audio-video and Digital Publishing Association (CADPA), this is the largest professional video game museum in China, committed to four core missions: Preservation, Public Education, Industry Engagement, and Innovation.
The Permanent Exhibition
The permanent exhibition is built upon the museum's core collection, enhanced by generous donations and loaned items from individuals and organizations since our inauguration. The displays are curated to showcase the significant accomplishments throughout the history of video games.
The exhibition is composed of four main sections: "The Origin of Video Games," "The Rise of Console Gaming," "The Boom of PC Gaming," and "The Development of Chinese Games." Each section is further divided into multiple themed units and is complemented by 20 hands-on, playable displays, providing visitors with a multifaceted view of the evolution of video games.
